Suit check

Can a Yono Rummy sequence mix suits?

No—consecutive rank is only half the test; the suit must also match.

Direct answer

No. A standard Indian Rummy sequence needs consecutive cards of one suit. 5♥-6♦-7♥ has consecutive ranks, but the Diamond Six breaks the Heart run, so the group is invalid. Use 5♥-6♥-7♥ for a natural sequence. Different suits belong together in a set only when their ranks match, not when their ranks are consecutive.

Same ranks, different result

Invalid mixed-suit run
5♥6♦7♥
Valid set, not sequence
6♥6♦6♣

Run every proposed sequence through two tests

Rank test
Cards progress without a gap, such as 5-6-7. K-A-2 does not wrap.
Suit test
Every natural card displays the same suit symbol and colour is not enough: Hearts and Diamonds are both red but different suits.
Joker test
A permitted Joker may fill a missing card in an impure sequence; it does not make arbitrary natural mixed suits consecutive.
Count test
The completed sequence contains at least three physical cards.

Beginners often check only the numbers, or only the red/black colour. Read the actual symbols: ♥, ♦, ♣ and ♠. Two red symbols are not one suit.

How to regroup an invalid mixed run

  1. Keep the strongest same-suit neighbours together, such as 5♥ and 7♥ waiting for 6♥.
  2. Move 6♦ beside 5♦ or 7♦ if those cards are available.
  3. Alternatively, combine 6♦ with Sixes of other suits to build a valid set.
  4. Do not count a Joker as permission to leave unrelated natural suits in one run.
  5. After regrouping, check the entire hand for one pure and a second valid sequence.

Use the Play & Learn room to sort by suit first and rank second. Then deliberately create one mixed-suit error and explain which symbol breaks it.

This is the common 13-card rule. The app may highlight errors differently or apply a stated Joker variation, so read the room rule. YonoGameGuide is independent and unrelated to YONO SBI banking.

Mixed-suit FAQ

Is 5♥-6♦-7♥ a sequence because all cards are red?

No. Hearts and Diamonds are different suits even though both are red.

Can different suits form a set?

Yes when the ranks are equal and the natural suits differ, such as 6♥-6♦-6♣.
