Ace (high / low)
In many Indian Rummy tables, Ace can start a low run (A-2-3) or close a high run (Q-K-A) of one suit—never mix both in one sequence.
Boot
Entry stake or table minimum shown in some apps. On YonoGameGuide we treat boot as a practice-table label only—not banking or cash-out language.
Declare
Final action when your 13-card hand meets valid sequence and set rules. Interface labels vary by app; verify on your practice table.
Discard pile
Face-up pile where each player places one card per turn. Reading the top discard helps plan your next draw.
Draw pile
Closed stock from which players draw one card on their turn unless rules allow picking the discard instead.
Impure sequence
Sequence of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit that uses a Joker as substitute for one rank.
Joker
Wildcard card used in sets or impure sequences. Beginners often overuse Jokers before building a pure sequence.
Printed joker
Fixed joker card printed in the deck. It can substitute in impure sequences or sets per house rules—not inside a pure sequence.
Pure sequence
Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit without a Joker. Most 13-card formats require at least one pure sequence to declare.
Run / Sequence
Consecutive ranks of a single suit. Guides use “sequence” for the same idea as a run in casual Indian Rummy speech.
Set
Three or four cards of the same rank across different suits. Sets complement sequences in a complete hand.
Sort / Group
Interface action that arranges cards into sequence and set clusters so you can review a hand before declaring.
Turn order
Clockwise draw-discard cycle after the deal. Each active turn ends with exactly thirteen cards in hand.
Wild joker
Rank chosen by an indicator card each deal. All cards of that rank act as jokers for that round only.
